In most major countries, ISO 17025 is the standard for which most labs must hold accreditation in order to be deemed technically competent.
The purpose of this course is to provide training and coaching in the Quality Management System for Laboratory Accreditation according to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 (General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories). Accreditation is the formal recognition of competence, by an authoritative third party, in producing consistent and reliable results/measurements for a defined set of methods/activities that is detailed in a schedule of accreditation. The training also includes the requirements of the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS). SANAS is recognised by the South African Government as the single National Accreditation Body that gives formal recognition that laboratories are competent to carry out specific tasks in terms of the Accreditation for Conformity Assessment, Calibration and Good Laboratory Practice Act (Act 19 of 2006). ISO/IEC 17025:2005 applies to any laboratory that wants to assure its internal and/or external customers of the validity of their test results.
